24  Hour Remote Video Editing Turnaround for the LA Film Festival

I was contacted by a long-time client, Film Independent to edit a quick highlight video of the opening night of the 2018 LA Film Festival and jumped at the chance as Film Independent has been one of my favorite clients for the past couple years. This year the festival kicked off with a red carpet world premiere of Echo In The Canyon, a documentary chronicling LA’s famed Laurel Canyon music scene from the 1960s through today. After the premiere, the crowd was treated to a live performance by Jakob Dylan, Chan Marshall, Michelle Phillips, and Jackson Browne featuring songs from the film.

Since I was in Barcelona at the time of this event, I needed to edit their opening night highlight video remotely. After the festivities were complete, their team sent me raw footage from the red carpet interviews and the event coverage and my job began. We had communicated before as to what the tone, duration, graphics/branding was desired for the video and I had edited similar videos for their events in the past so I was confident I could turn around the video fast enough to meet their deadline of delivering the finished video with any rounds of notes by the next day.

The video turned out great. Shows off the LA Film Festival's world class event perfectly. Their team captured great footage during the evening, and I really love working with the great folks over at Film Independent on many projects. Take a look at the video above to check out their fabulous opening night.
